I want my kids to succeed in everything that they do. I want to see them reach goals and be proud of their selves. I believe you can set your child up for success at a young age
I wanna go over some things you can do to prepare your preschooler for the next milestone in life. Kindergarten! If you’re wondering if your child is ready, you’ve come to the right place.
Reading.
My first tip is to make sure you are spending time reading with your child daily. They recommend twenty minutes a day. Honestly, I would say at least fifteen a day, more if you’d like. And you don’t have to do it all at once. I try to for about fifteen minutes in the morning after breakfast, and fifteen at night before bed. And of course, several times though out the day, she loves books!
If you haven’t already, make a weekly library trip a part of your schedule! Kids love to pick out books to take home and new books will keep them wanting to read!

Schedules.
Speaking of schedules, that is my next tip. Schedules are so important for your child’s development. It gives them a since of security and stability, predictability. Being on a schedule prior to school will make it an easier transition.
It will also teach them independence and self-discipline which they will need when they are entering school.
I’m not saying that you have to be totally strict. If your kids are up a bit later, no big deal, just follow the routine! If they are up an hour later than usual just have them do the same things they always do when they are getting ready for bed.

Interaction.
You should try and have your child interact with other children and adults as much as possible. If not, they will only be familiar with family and it will be really hard on them when they start school and all of a sudden they are in a strange place where they don’t know anyone.
Get them involved. Some great examples would be: story time at the library, the park, Sunday school, and gymnastics. (Most dance schools have toddler time where they are mostly there to play and tumble.)
When my oldest daughter was a little one, it was always me and her for about a year and a half. And then I got a job at a daycare where she went to work with me, but she was in a different classroom. Her and I both cried and cried. It was horrible. So, take my word for it and get your child good and socialized!

Manners.
Having your kids socializing is a great opportunity to reinforce those manners! Manners are important for your child. When they go to school they will show respect for their teacher and also be polite to the other children.
I feel like teaching children manners is a long lost practice. It’s just good to have good manners! Please, teach your child to be respectful.
Outdoor exercise.
Get your kids outdoors as much as possible! I like to go out with my kids after their mid morning snack, afternoon sometime after lunch, and again before dinner. Not only will they get good exercise but they will get their energy out and they will go to bed easier!
Kids get bored being inside all day. It’s good for them (and you) to get outside and soak up the vitamin C and get some fresh air!
Staying inside can make you become depressed. So get out there with your kids. Play ball, go for a walk, hey even yard work! Get your kids active! Just have fun!

ABC’s & 123’s.
This is probably a big “duh”, but teach your little one their ABC’s and 123’s! Don’t wait for them to learn it in school. The more they know when they start school, the easier it will be for them to do well. Remember, they don’t have to be in school to have some kind of education!
ABC’s are the fundamentals for basically everything. They need to know them and their numbers as early as possible.

Shapes & colors.
This is another good example of what you could teach your kids to prepare them for school. Shapes and colors! My daughter is three years old and she has known her shapes and colors for at least a year. I still reinforce them everyday by asking her the shape of something or what color something is. I also have flashcards that we use. You can get some at the Dollar Tree or even print some!

Name.
The last thing I feel is super important, is for a child to know how to spell their name. Your child will feel so proud when they learn to spell their name. Do you remember how it felt when you learned to spell your name? Ok, honestly I don’t either. But, in the moment that your child learns that, it’s so special, that’s a big milestone!
I like to use the personalized name puzzles. Also, letter magnets on the fridge or an easel! Just keep working with them on it and reinforce it as much as possible.

And those are my tips for you on how you can help your child be successful when they start that new chapter in life. Starting school is scary so preparing them as much as we can is going to help them adjust so much better.
I truly hope I was able to give you some insight and help you out some.
